Application forms for the 2010 awards are now available. All applications must be submitted on the Foundation’s application form, which can be downloaded above. Before starting your application, you must read the guidance notes, together with the information on the ‘How to apply’ page.

Please check the Foundation’s Helena Kennedy Foundation eligibility criteria before submitting an application, applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements will not be considered for an award. You must have the support of your college to make an application to the Foundation. We can only accept five applications per college; your Principal will sign your application to confirm that you are one of the applicants the college wishes to put forward in 2010.

Before completing your application form, please look at the awards available in 2010 which are listed below. Additional awards may be added to this page throughout the application period. It is not necessary to indicate in your application which award you are applying for, we will match each applicant to the available bursaries according to the information you give us in your application form. Please include any information that you believe may make you eligible for one of the awards listed in your personal statement.

All applications MUST be completed fully, signed by the Principal, and be received by the Foundation on or before midday on the closing date the 31st March 2010. Applications received after this date cannot be accepted.

For a student from a 157 member college, progressing to higher education.

Anne Russell Award

In memory of Anne Russell, an award for a student progressing to study in the fields of nursing or counselling.

Barclaycard Credit Risk Team

Awards available to students who have overcome significant barriers in progressing to higher education.

Border Engineering

For a student progressing to an engineering related programme.

Christian Churches / fbfe

For a student training to teach.

City and Guilds NPTC

For students from a rural area intending to study a programme in the land based sector.

De Montfort University

2 awards available to students progressing to De Montfort University.  One award will be reserved for a student progressing to a creative undergraduate course and one will be reserved for a student progressing to a professional undergraduate course.

DRS

For a student from Milton Keynes Academy progressing to a higher education course in the field of Engineering or Information Technology.

Edexcel

3 awards for students currently studying on a BTEC course, progressing to a higher education course.

Edge Hill University

2 awards for students progressing to an undergraduate course at Edge Hill University.

Glasgow Caledonian University (TBC)

2 awards for students progressing to an undergraduate course at Glasgow Caledonian University.

Hewett / Driver Trust

2 awards avaialeble for students training to teach.

John Lyon's Charity

10 awards available to students living in the following London boroughs: Brent, Barnet, Camden, Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham, Harrow, Kensington and Chelsea and the Cities of London and Westminster.

Kaplan

12 awards for students progressing to study in the fields of Business, Accounting, Finance, Tax, Law or Economics

KPMG Foundation

10 awards available for the following group of students:

  • students who have been in care
  • students who have learning difficulties such as dyslexia
  • students who are asylum seekers or refugees

Liverpool Hope University

2 awards available to students progressing to Liverpool Hope University.

Newman University College

Available to a student progressing to an undergraduate course at Newman University College. Priority will be given to any student who has grown up in the care system.

Rob Valentine Award

In memory of Rob Valentine, to support a student from the counties of Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire or Northamptonshire to achieve their learning goals.

Royal London Cash Management

5 awards available for students who have overcome significant barriers to progress to a higher education course.

Smart Teachers

3 awards available to students hoping to pursue a career in teaching.

Soroptimist International of Croydon and District

3 awards available to students who have overcome significant barriers to continue with their education.  1 award for a student progressing to study medicine, 1 award for a student progressing to study law and 1 award for a student progressing to any undergraduate degree course.

Southampton Solent University

For a student progressing to an undergraduate course at Southampton Solent University.

Thames Valley University (TBC)

For a student progressing to an undergraduate course at Thames Valley University.

Thomas Wall Trust

Awards available to mature students who wish to return to higher education to obtain higher level skills and qualifications.

University College London

For a student from City and Islington College progressing to an undergraduate degree course at University College London.

University of Abertay Dundee

Reserved for a student from Stevenson College, progressing to study an undergraduate degree in either BA (Hons) Professional Photography, BA (Hons) Computer Arts, or BA (Hons) Creative Sound Production.  Applications from ethnic minority students will be particularly welcome.

University of Bedfordshire

For a student from Milton Keynes College progressing to an art or design course accredited by the University of Bedfordshire.

University of Brighton (TBC)

For students progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Brighton.

University of East London

2 awards available to students progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of East London.

University of Edinburgh

2 awards for students progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Edinburgh.

University of Essex

Available to a student progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Essex.

University of Huddersfield

Available to a student progressing to a Science or Engineering course at the University of Huddersfield.

University of Kent

For a student progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Kent.

University of Liverpool

2 awards for students progressing to the University of Liverpool - one of these awards is reserved for a student from John Leggott College.

University of Nottingham

Awards available to students progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Nottingham.

University of Plymouth

4 awards available to students progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Plymouth.

University of Westminster

2 Gold and 2 Silver Scholarships available to students progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Westminster.  The scholarships will only be awarded to home students who achieve high academic standards (usually 3 As at A level for Gold awards and 3 Bs at A level for Silver awards).

University of Winchester

3 awards available for students progressing to an undergraduate course at the University of Winchester.

Westminster Abbey

2 awards available to students who have overcome significant barriers to continue with their education.
