At the Helena Kennedy Foundation, we are constantly inspired by the incredible dedication of our team, and Shahida Aslam is no exception. By day, she works tirelessly as part of our charity to help students overcome barriers and achieve their dreams. By night, she channels her creativity into Divine Teas, crafting blends that promote health and wellbeing. Now, her talents are taking the spotlight on national television!
This December, Shahida will be featured on Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas, airing on Channel 4 on Wednesday, 11th December at 5:30 PM. This beloved festive series showcases creative talents from across the UK, and Shahida’s appearance promises to blend her passion for artistry and her commitment to making a difference.
Since joining the Helena Kennedy Foundation over 10 years ago in 2012, Shahida has been a cornerstone of our mission to champion social mobility. Her dedication and expertise have helped countless students access university and overcome significant challenges. Shahida’s unwavering commitment embodies the values we hold dear—empowering individuals through education and opportunity.
In 2022, Shahida embarked on a personal project, launching Divine Teas, a business focused on crafting artisan tea blends designed to promote health and balance. Whether she’s helping a student achieve their dream or blending a soothing cup of tea, Shahida is a testament to the power of passion and creativity.
Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas is a festive favorite that returns on 9th December. Packed with ideas for decorations, gifts, and seasonal treats, it’s a celebration of creativity in all its forms. Her appearance is a proud moment for the Helena Kennedy Foundation as it highlights the incredible individuals who help make our work possible.
Baroness Helena Kennedy of the Shaws, President of the charity, shared her excitement: “Shahida’s creativity and dedication embody the values of the Helena Kennedy Foundation. From supporting students to crafting wellbeing teas, her work is truly inspiring. We are thrilled to see her talents recognised on a national stage.”
The Helena Kennedy Foundation has supported over 2,000 students since its inception, but the demand for our work continues to grow. Each bursary costs £3,000, with 75% of funds directly supporting recipients. Last year alone, we received 675 applications and were able to award 132 bursaries—highlighting the critical need for donations.
Shahida’s dual roles are a powerful reminder of how one person can make a lasting impact. By supporting students in the day and promoting wellbeing at night, she exemplifies the spirit of giving back.
We invite you to tune in to Channel 4 on 11th December at 5:30 PM to celebrate Shahida’s inspiring journey and to join us in championing the power of education, creativity, and community support.
