Baroness Helena Kennedy KC
Baroness Helena Kennedy KC is one of Britain's most distinguished lawyers.
She has spent her professional life giving voice to those who have least power within the system, championing civil liberties and promoting human rights. Baroness Kennedy was a commissioner on the National Commission for Education 1991-1993 and then chaired the Further Education Commission into Widening Participation which produced the seminal report Learning Works 1997.
“When the “Learning Works” report was published, I had no idea that over a decade later the Foundation – established in my name to take forward the report’s recommendations – would have made such a direct, significant and personal impact upon the lives of so many disadvantaged students and that they would feel so inspired by their experience that they themselves would want to give back to others”
