As a care leaver my chances of going to university were very slim and other issues complicated matters. I applied for the HKF award and was very surprised to be chosen. The grant really helped at university, mainly with regard to materials and books, but also knowing you had the support and encouragement from the foundation. I graduated with first class honours and I'm now beginning my training in my chosen career.
